A mid-market manufacturer's supplier-confirmation process required a four-person team reading PDFs, copying line items into SAP, and chasing exceptions over email. 18,000 documents a month, none of them standardized.
Approach
An LLM extraction layer in front of SAP, with a human-in-the-loop UI for the 8% of documents the model flagged as uncertain. Confidence thresholds tuned against a held-out set of 2,000 historical documents.
Outcome
After six weeks the team was reassigned to vendor relationship work instead of data entry. Seven-figure annual savings validated by their internal finance team in month three.
